How did this start?
All throughout my life I have struggled to maintain a positive body image and a healthy weight range. I fluctuate from weight to weight and struggle to maintain a positive position around my body. I have tried many different diets, but that's all they where to me diets. What I really needed was a new lifestyle. That's where veganism comes in.
As a child I remember being very uncomfortable about the idea of eating animals, I would liken it to eating my pet dog or Mary's little lamb, yet I still ate what my parents put in front of me even though it clearly made me uncomfortable. I liked the taste, but the feelings eating meat left inside of me made me not enjoy it very much. Many times as a younger teenager I attempted to taken on a vegetarian lifestyle, but I found that very difficult when I wasn't able to cook my own meals or purchase my own foods, so it never lasted very long.
When it comes to my health I've always struggled to be fit or to stay in the right weight range for my height. It has always been a big concern for me and for my mother as high cholesterol, heart disease and diabetes run in both my mothers family and my fathers family. So many times I tried different diets to cut out fat and to loose some weight in hopes that things would start to look up for my physical and emotional health. But now I see that a diet was never the answer. What I truly needed was a radical lifestyle change. I needed to stop eating foods that made me uncomfortable, to get out of bed and start exercising, and to just start generally seeing things around me more positively.
So now I am starting a journey towards a more healthy and positive lifestyle. I am attempting to remove as much processed food as I can and to follow a strict vegan diet. Come join me on the journey as I discover new products, new recipes and a new life.
